Talk Boost

Talk Boost through the Wessex Teaching School

Talk Boost is a structured and robustly evidenced programme that can boost a child’s communication by an average of 18 months after 10 weeks of intervention. Language delay can significantly impact children’s attainment. Many of these children have the potential to catch up but only if they receive timely intervention. Some schools tell ICAN this programme could help more than half their learners.

Wessex Teaching School offers training for KS1 and KS2.

TalkBoost KS1 is a structured and robustly evidenced programme that can boost a child's commuication by an average of 18 months after 10 weeks of intervention.

TalkBoost KS1 is a targeted and evidenced based intervention, which supports language delayed children in KS1 to make significant progress with the language and communication skills.

Ofsted will be evaluating standards in communication and focusin on how schools narrow the gap between children with the lowest and highest attainment.

TalkBoost KS2 is a targeted intervention for children in Years 3, 4 and 5 (7-10 year olds) who have delayed language development, aiming to boost their language skills to help them to catch up with their peers.

TalkBoost KS2 training is for teachers and TAs working with children in Years 3, 4 and 5.  It is important that staff attend the training in teacher/TA pairs as delivery of the intervention involves them working together.

The training will give you the context for TalkBoost KS2 by developing your awareness of speech, language and typical language development in KS2.  It will help you to understand how to run the intervention including how to identify appropriate children, measure their progress and use the resources and how to follow this up in class.
